Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act
On December 4, 2015, the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act was signed into law. The FAST Act is the first federal law in more than a decade that provided dedicated long-term funding for transportation infrastructure planning and investment.
The FAST Act has $305 billion allocated for fiscal years 2016 to 2020 for highways, highway safety, public transportation, rail, research, technology, and related programs.
The legislation is a tremendous success for the roadway safety industry and has helped state and local governments progress on critical transportation and roadway infrastructure projects by providing federal funding and partnership for long-term planning.
As the expiration of the legislation moves closer, ATSSA members are actively advocating for another bill from Congress with funding to invest in roadway safety infrastructure.
