The Task Force 13 (TF13) 2018 Spring Meeting was held in April in Lincoln, Nebraska, following the Midwest Pooled Fund Program.

In a memorandum released on March 20, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) issued “Interim Approval (IA)-21 – Rectangular Rapid-Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at Crosswalks.” The new IA-21 allows for the optional use of RRFBs as pedestrian-activated visibility enhancements for pedestrian and school crossing warning signs under limited conditions.

The association works to provide high-quality training to roadway workers and advocates for transportation and infrastructure legislation and funding. 

On May 15, the American Traffic Safety Services Association’s (ATSSA) President & CEO Roger Wentz spoke at a press conference hosted by the Highway Materials Group (HMG) in support of increased investment in roadway safety infrastructure.

As part of ongoing efforts by the National Safety Council (NSC), the Rand Corporation released a new report, which articulates a comprehensive plan for achieving zero deaths on our nation’s roadways by 2050.

“Preparing Infrastructure for Automation Levels 1-3” will examine areas within roadway infrastructure that will be affected with the emergence of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs).

As part of ongoing efforts by the National Safety Council (NSC), the Rand Corporation released a new report, which articulates a comprehensive plan for achieving zero deaths on our nation’s roadways by 2050.

ATSSA members from across the country will gather at the Williamsburg Lodge to participate in association committee and council meetings in a joint effort to make their voices heard and help shape the future of the roadway safety industry, while focusing on the goal of moving Toward Zero Deaths on the nation’s roadways.
